With Planet, you can suggest additional products even after the customer has completed their purchase — directly on the Thank You Page. It’s an excellent way to boost post-checkout sales at a high-conversion moment.
In this step-by-step guide, you’ll learn how to create upsells on your store’s Thank You Page in just a few minutes with Planet.
The first step to create an upsell is to add a new extension. To do this, go to the Checkout page and click the “Add extension” button.
A pop-up will appear showing the available extensions for each page. In this case, to create an upsell on the Thank You Page, select that page and choose the “Upsell” template.
Configuring the Upsell Extension
Once the extension is created, you'll need to configure its different components:
1. Advanced Conditions
These conditions allow you to precisely segment who will see the upsell:
Products: Limits visibility to orders that include specific products.
Market: Apply only in certain countries or regions.
Amount spent in the cart: Show the upsell only if the customer has spent a minimum (or maximum) amount.
Number of products in the cart: Show the upsell if the total quantity of items meets or doesn’t meet a certain threshold.
Customer order count: Segment between new and returning customers.
2. Recommendations
Define which products will be shown as upsell:
Related products, based on the completed order.
Complementary products, based on the completed order.
Manual selection, if you want to fully control what is suggested.
💡 If you choose “Related” or “Complementary Products,” you must install and configure the free Shopify Search & Discovery app.
3. Discount
Optionally, you can add a discount to the suggested product:
Discount type: no discount, percentage, fixed amount, or fixed price.
Discount amount: set the value to apply.
Discount label: text visible to the customer (e.g., “Special offer”).
Currency conversion: When selling in markets with currencies different than your store's (e.g., EUR), Planet automatically applies conversion based on Shopify exchange rates.
If enabled, the discount or fixed price will be converted to the market’s currency.
If disabled, the set value is applied directly without conversion, which may result in slight variations.
Example: if you set a fixed discount of €10, a customer purchasing in USD will receive a $10 discount.

5. Installing the block on the Thank You Page
To properly display the upsell, you need to add the block to your Thank You Page from Shopify’s theme editor:
Go to your theme settings in the Shopify admin panel.
Access the checkout editor.
Add the relevant extension block (e.g., “Upsell – Thank You Page”).
Publish your changes.
