The upsell functionality allows you to suggest additional products directly in the shopping cart, aiming to increase the average order value and improve conversion rates. You can customize the design, logic, and text to integrate seamlessly with your store.
Here we explain how to activate, configure, and customize it according to your store’s needs.
1. Activation
To start using upsells, first activate the option from the cart settings panel. Once activated, upsells will visibly appear at the bottom of the cart.
2. Configuration
Within the settings panel, you can define how suggested products are generated:
Recommendation algorithm: Choose the type of suggestions you want to display (for example: Related Products).
💡 If you select "Related Products" or "Compliment Products" you need to have the free Shopify Search & Discovery app installed and configured.
Show products already in the cart (optional): Check this box if you also want to suggest products that the customer has already added to their cart.
Limit the number of recommended products (optional): You can enable this option to set a maximum number of products to display.
Orientation: Define whether the products will be displayed in a vertical format (stacked) or horizontal format (carousel).
3. Texts
You can customize the texts displayed in the upsells section:
Title: Text that will appear above the recommendations. Example: “You’re going to love this.”
Purchase button: Text that will appear on the button next to each product. Example: “Add to cart.”
4. Style
Adjust the visual design so that the upsells match your store’s style:
General background
Product card background
Button background color
Button text color
You just need to click on the color to change it using the selector or enter the HEX code if you know it.
