If your store sells in multiple languages, you can easily translate all the visible texts in Planet’s Smart Cart so they automatically adapt to the customer’s language.
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to do this using the Shopify Translate & Adapt app.
1. Access the Cart Translations
1.1 How to Access Metaobjects from the Translation App
To add translations to your cart, simply go to your translation app and click on the “Metaobjects” section.
Open your Shopify admin panel.
Go to the Translate & Adapt app.
Select the Metaobjects option.
Locate the cart content metaobjects:
Planet Smart Cart Modules Content
Planet Smart Cart General Content
1.2 How to Access Metaobjects from the Shopify Admin
In addition to searching through the translation app, you can also locate and edit cart texts directly from the Shopify admin panel by following these steps:
Open your Shopify admin.
Go to Content > Metaobjects.
Locate the cart content metaobjects:
Planet Smart Cart Modules Content
Planet Smart Cart General Content
2. Translate the cart modules
The Planet Smart Cart Modules Content section includes texts for optional modules, like the ones shown in the screenshot below.
Click each field under the "Spanish" column to edit or adjust the translation. You can translate freely or use the “Auto-translate” option in the top-right corner.
💡 Make sure to keep variables {{amount}} unchanged.
3. Translate the general cart texts
In the Planet Smart Cart General Content section, you’ll find the main cart texts, like the ones shown in the next screenshot.
As before, you can manually edit each translation or use the automatic translation option.
💡 Make sure to keep variables such as {{items_count}} and {{total_price}} unchanged.
4. Save and review your changes
Once you’ve finished translating, click Save in the top-right corner.
Visit your store in the corresponding language to verify that the cart displays the texts correctly.
If you make changes to the cart texts in Planet after translating them, the translations will not update automatically.
You’ll need to return to the Translate & Adapt app and manually update the affected translations.
