Once you have created a rule with one of the Planet widgets, you will be able to translate the widget content to adapt it to the language of your store.
1. Access to Translations
1.1 How to Access Metaobjects from the Translation App
To include translations in your widgets, you need to access your translation App and click on the “metaobjects” section.
1.2 How to Access Metaobjects from the Shopify Dashboard
Besides using the translation app, you can also locate and edit widget texts directly in the Shopify admin by following these steps:
Log in to your Shopify dashboard.
Go to Content > Metaobjects.
Use the search bar to find the metaobject corresponding to the widget type you want to translate. You can use the following equivalence table:
Widget type in Planet | Metaobject name in Shopify |
Volume Discount |
|
Bundle |
|
BOGO |
|
Upsell on product page |
|
Banner |
|
Product discount in cart |
|
4. Once you’ve found the metaobject type (e.g., Volume Widget Content), you’ll see a list of all promotions of that type, ordered by the name you assigned to them.
5. Select the specific promotion you want to translate and click on it.
6. Inside the metaobject, go to the Localized tab to translate the available fields.
2. How to Translate Widgets
On this page, you’ll find all your widgets listed by the rule name, making it easy to translate them.
⚠ In case you have existing rules prior to the translation update, you can re-apply the rules to translate them.
Choose which widget you want to translate and translate it manually or automatically in any language you need.
The translation of fields is optional, since there may be fields that your widget does not contain but appear in the translation, such as the buy button. In this case, translation won't be necessary.
In addition, it is also not necessary to translate variables such as {{amount}} or {{discount}}.
In the case of the “Widget Steps” section shown in some widgets, it is necessary to copy the content of the original language to translate it, since it is not automatically translated. It will only be necessary to translate the custom texts as shown in the example:
3. Save and review your changes
Once you’ve finished translating, click Save in the top-right corner.
Visit your store in the corresponding language to verify that the translations display the texts correctly.
If you make changes to the widgets in Planet after translating them, the translations will not update automatically.
You’ll need to return to the Translate & Adapt app and manually update the affected translations.
⚠ Remember that editing the widget from Planet will not change the translation automatically.
