Order discounts are especially useful to increase the AOV in your eCommerce, offering discounts for spending a certain amount or buying x units.
In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to create and automate order discounts in minutes with Planet.
The first step to creating an order discount is to add a new rule. To do this, you must access the rules page and click on the green "add rule" button.
When you do so, a pop-up will appear with the available templates to create your rule. In this case, to create an order discount you must choose the "Order discount" template.
Order Discount Configuration
Once the rule has been created, the different parts of the rule must be configured:
1. Products
To create a rule in any of the available templates, you must choose the products to which the promotion will apply.
2. Promotion details
Here you configure everything related to the discount.
Method
The method of applying the discount may be:
Automatic discount: the discount is applied directly.
Discount code: the discount is applied on the checkout page when you add the discount code.
Discount options
Minimum quantity:
Minimum quantity of items: discount applies to orders with a minimum number of products (discount when buying 5 products).
Minimum purchase amount: the discount is applied when spending a minimum amount of money (discount when spending $100).
To configure the discount we must select the minimum quantity and the type of discount (% or quantity).
In addition, with the "add option" button you can optionally include other steps for the discount.
Example: Spend $100 and get 10%, spend $200 and get $15...
Maximum discount
Opcionalmente se puede limitar la cantidad de descuento total en el pedido.
Cart & checkout label
Optionally you can edit the name that appears in the cart in the discount applied.
Combinations
Allows you to choose if you want to combine this discount with other orders, products, and/or shipping discounts.
3. Widgets
It will be necessary to add the block for each widget in the Shopify theme to allow them to be displayed on the product page.
These are the available widgets in the volume discounts:
3.1 Banner on product page
Optionally, you can add a banner on your product page to inform your customers of the promotion.
Texts and appearance of this banner are customizable for each rule.
4. Schedule the rule
When you create the rule, the date of rule creation will be set as the default start date. You can edit the start date and optionally, add an end date or more schedules.
