What Are Promotions?

Promotions are special offers you can set up in your Shopify store to encourage purchases. They include bundles, free gifts, volume discounts, flash sales, and BOGO (Buy One, Get One). These promotions can be applied automatically or via coupon codes in the cart to increase the order value and enhance the shopping experience.

Types of Promotions

1. Quantity Breaks

This promotion applies progressive discounts as the customer buys larger quantities of the same product. It's ideal for encouraging bulk purchases.

2. BOGO (Buy One, Get One)

With the BOGO promotion, you can offer free or discounted products when purchasing others. For example, "Buy one and get the second at 50% off."

3. Bundle

Bundles allow you to group products and offer a discount when purchasing the set. It's an ideal promotion for increasing the average cart value.

4. Price Discount

Price discounts apply to specific products for a limited time. They're perfect for creating urgency and boosting conversions during key periods.

5. Free Gift

This promotion lets you offer a free product when the customer meets certain conditions, such as spending a certain amount or purchasing a specific product.

6. Order Discount

This automatically applies a discount to the total order when the customer meets certain conditions. It's ideal for encouraging purchases over a minimum amount.

All types of promotions can be displayed through different widgets in your store to inform the customer about the available conditions and benefits.

  • Text: Modify the messages displayed to the customer (e.g., "Take advantage of this offer!" or "You're almost there to get a gift").

  • Colors: Change the background, text, border, or button colors.

  • Customize the messages to keep the tone of your brand and make them easily understandable.

  • Ensure you communicate the promotions clearly in the cart, checkout, and widgets.

  • Test before publishing: Add products to the cart as a customer and verify that the conditions apply correctly.

  • Create urgency during key dates with flash sales and countdown widgets.

  • Always display the benefit: Use widgets to clearly show what the customer is gaining (discount, gift, etc.) and what they need to do to get it.

  • Strategically combine promotions: For example, a bundle + order discount or a free gift when spending over a certain amount.
